A Quiet Morning

After Friday's noisy walk, I knew we needed a quiet time to go out and get some exercise. I opted to walk Marge instead of going back to sleep this morning. It turned out to be very pleasant - all we heard were foghorns out at sea and the sound of our own footsteps.

We walked down to the beach, as we do so often, but a large group of offleash dogs was playing in the distance, so we could not go far. We walked along this path and then turned for home. I could have stayed for hours, just watching the waves and thinking silently to myself. There is something so serene and enchanting about looking out to the open ocean, and this is one of my favorite spots to do just that.

This is my favorite picture from the outing. I did stage it by throwing a treat for Marge to run at, but that doesn't detract from how much I like it. Too bad I cut her back end off a bit.

Now, I'm in bed, and will only be for another ten minutes or so before I have to get up and start the day for good. Though I did want to go back to sleep this morning, I reasoned to myself: I could sleep any time I like, but I don't always get the opportunity for me and my dog to go out into an almost completely silent world.

You're making us homesick, again! There is absolutely no place better to be, first thing in the morning, than at the beach with your dog! DOGnabit, we miss the east coast!

Stumpy's work is never done, her job description is infinite. It doesn't take much to lead me or Stumpy astray, so we are a perfect fit!

How nice you have the ocean so close. We could go up to Lake Erie shores in about 45 minutes, but it's just not the same!! have a great day :)

Sunday morning is the best time for a peaceful walk. We snuck one in today too.

It sounds like it was worth getting out of bed for!

We only get to the beach a couple of times a year, but we do love quiet mornings and watching the ocean.

wow, Marge is a lucky dog to have her person willing to get up early on a sunday morning and go for a walk rather then just snuggling in for awhile longer, LOL. Marge looks fantastic, look at those relaxed ears and the happy tail, looks like a really wonderful way to spend a early sunday morning

That makes us want to head to the beach!
We just love the beach but have never been first thing in the morning......in the quiet of the day.
You are right that is very special.
We can see why you like that pic of Marge - even if you did cut off her hind end.
You are both so lucky to be so near the beach.

That second photo really captures the serenity you described. I would love to live close to an ocean -- I've only seen the ocean a few times and it was such a beautiful place to just sit and contemplate life.

In the third photo I love Marge's happy curly tail and her "pose". She always looks so toned and athletic.

Furry nice pikhs!

My mom understands the pinching of the pup part in the pikhs - she does it to Merdie and me too!

what a fun morning! I'm sure Marge was happy that you two were able to spend some quiet time together.

I really hope that someday I can walk Riley on a beach, it'd be fun to see how she'd react. I bet that's awesome to just walk a bit and sit by the ocean and think- I only get to do that on a rare occasion :)
