Dog Crap and Dandelions

Mom, I'm sorry I rolled in mushy dog s^%& on our walk. Can you please, please, please not get the water and shampoo out?

Thanks a lot.

At least I look nice for my APDT trial this weekend now.

Marge had quite a good roll in the, er, grass yesterday. I was going to turn around and go home after she did it, but it was so nice out and she was feeling so good that we wound up walking for almost an hour. At least I had an excuse to tell people if any one tried to approach her. Thankfully, no one did, but that would have been a funny situation.. "Yeah, she's afraid of people and covered in crap. Are you sure you want to pet her?"

We had more nice, long walks today. Two, in fact. I took these pictures as Marge posed among the dandelions. I like 'em.

In about 12 hours, we'll be in the Rally ring for the first time. It's so funny how different I feel compared to my agility trials. I'm pretty relaxed about it, which I'm happy about. I guess the fact that we'll be indoors, on-leash, and in a familiar place is keeping my nerves in check. Of course, there's still that tinge of worry that Marge will be scared of the judge, though. On the bright side, Marge is only the 8th or so dog to run tomorrow and the entries are low - so, it won't be crowded and we shouldn't be there more than an hour. I'll probably update about it on Sunday, after both trials all over. Wish us luck!

(PS - we might be in the local newspaper sometime within the next month. They interviewed me regarding the AKC Canine Partners program! Keep your fingers crossed for this, too! I told them all about the fact that Marge was a fearful rescue whose life was changed by agility.)

Oh Marge, sounds like you had a wonderful time. So nice of mom to continue walking you even after; ahem....

We're rooting for both of you, all the best at the agility.

Sam, that's one of the funniest post titles I've ever seen!

You capture some perfect expressions with your bath photos.

Have fun this weekend! We're cheering you on out West!

Sam April 23, 2010 at 10:15 PM

Yeah, she doesn't hide her emotions at all. I'm honestly surprised that she knew it was coming, because I usually don't bathe her at home. You can probably tell from the first picture, though, that she was totally stressing. She HATES it! But, alas, it had to be done..

Ohhhh, that sudsy Marge doesn't look too thrilled! Hehe. Beautiful dandelion photos. Have a super time at the rally trial this weekend! I'm really looking forward to hearing all about it. Your and Marge's rally skills are awesome, seriously so you definitely should be relaxed about it.

Good luck to you tomorrow!

At least she took her roll at an opportune time, right before you're leaving for the trial, but not a few minutes before you're walking into the ring! Those pictures of her are gorgeous!

Good luck this weekend! We are lloking forward to hearing you blew the competition away! :ooking forward to reading your interview, too!

LauraK April 24, 2010 at 12:52 AM

WHY do dogs feel the need to roll in stinky stuff? It's so disgusting!

I'm so excited to hear about your rally trial, I'm sure you gals will do great :) I've thought about doing rally with Riley and maybe even Homer, because he REALLY needs a job, and it probably wouldn't be too bad for his knees, especially if we keep him doing the hydrotherapy.

That's awesome about being in the paper (maybe)! You two are so inspirational and more people deserve to read about what a wonderful job you've done with Marge. Have a great time at your trial this weekend!

Firstly, I hopes that your trial is going really really super good!

Secondly, I thinks that from now on if anybody tries to pet Marge on your walks, you should just tell them that she rolled in poop - even if she didn't.

Thirdly - me and my mom never gets tired of looking at Marge's most beautiful face!

Hey Marge, we can relate. We got to play in sheep poop today, well herd sheep but there was a lot of poop. Dad said the truck smelt kind of ripe on the way home.
Good luck in your Rally tomorrow.. We will be cheering for you...

LOVED this post - too funny! Hope day one at the trial went well for you. Our CPE trial was really odd, got a few (much needed) Q's but were far from issue-free. Hoping for a more inspiring tomorrow. Good luck to you at day 2 of rally, we'll be looking forward to the update!

I guess I am lucky our dogs never rolled in it. That was the blessing of living in the mountains -- the lack of grass. But then again, there was always the dreaded poo-poo paws. There never seemed to be a shortage of that!

Kari in Alaska April 28, 2010 at 8:19 PM

I never understood the whole rolling in poop thing
