Tuesday Training 31
We were tagged by Sammie to play the photo game. The rules are to go to your first photo folder and find the tenth picture. Here is ours (from our first folder on Photobucket):
It's the picture from our Novice Regular run in NADAC in November. I posted it on the blog back then, but it's a good enough picture to re-post it. That trial will always be special, since it was the first one. (Though, I must admit, this recent one was more special - it took more hard work to get there, and we had the added bonus of qualifying!)
I'm supposed to tag 5 more people, so I'll tag Nubs (a great new blog!), Tula (a fellow behavior-mod buddy), AC & Kona (fellow fearful dog buddies), The Teacher's Pets (a blog we just started reading), and Walter & Lucy (since their mom takes some AWESOME photos). Don't feel obligated to play if you don't want to - half the time I don't even get around to posting when I'm tagged - just think of this as an excuse for me to shout out some blogs!
----------------------------
We did get in some Rally practice, though. I set up a pretty long APDT Level 1 course and ran Marge through it. Here it is. (I zoomed in on each half of the course using video editing, but we ran the whole thing continuously.)
I think she did well. It was pretty warm in the building, which may have made her a little bit lackluster compared to other days. But, that tail was still wagging. Our trial is in a couple of weeks - we're doing both days. It should be a small trial, but it will be Marge's first indoor trial. I'm only doing it because it's on our home turf - otherwise, indoor trials are off-limits right now.
The photos from this past weekend's agility trial have been posted. The photographer took a lot of pictures - probably at least 15 or 20 of Marge. I'm going to order at least two or three of them. I'd like to blog more about the trial and especially my (good) feelings about the AKC Canine Partners program now that I've experienced it, but I simply haven't had the time. Spring Break ended this week, and all of a sudden I feel as though I've been hit with a ton of school work.
Later in the week, or possibly next week, I'm probably going to begin a series of posts about a very dear four-legged friend of mine. The third anniversary of his death is coming up, and I think sharing some of the many stories of he and I together will be a good way to remember him.

This was a 'RALLY' fine post. hehehe I made a Frankie Funny.
She looks great doing rally! I especially like how quickly she responds to the "stand" command.
I don't know if you guys have definitely entered the Staten Island agility trial on May 7th, but one of the judges has a lot of his courses online. It'll change, of course, but you can get an idea of what he likes to design. From what I can tell, they look to have a really nice flow. You have to download Clean Run Course Designer to view them (if you don't already have it), but it's a free download. One of the judges is Paul Mount, you can search by judge name. I love the site, because you can look at courses from judges all over the country and get an idea of what you might encounter.

There's the link in case you didn't have it already.
I'd love to hear more about your thoughts on the trial and the Canine Partner's program, but I totally get not having time. I always hated going back to school after any amount of time off. It seems like the professors stocked up on assignments over break just to attack you with them when you come back.
great video- she has such great concentration on you. Maybe I should try that with my Riley girl.
I'm excited to hear what you have to say about the AKC Canine Partners program, we are officially registered, but I have yet to get brave and sign up for that first trial! We'll be ready in a couple months, I think :)
Great post!
Thanks fur sharing it!
Mom puts my biskhuit near the khounter fur when I want bakhk inside BUT somedays I'm so enjoying it outside, she'll bring it out fur me - and I humour her by giving her something fur the blog!

Great shot. We are having our trial this weekend and mixed breeds have signed up. I hope they have a good time and positive experience. Diana
Love the photo of Marge.
It is amazing how much attention Marge shows you for 2 whole minutes! Eye contact, tail wagging...she clearly feels a deep connection to you, and loves to do these activities.
That's a great action shot! The excercize loos good, too. It's great you can keep her focused evenwhen things aren't so exciting and moving fast!
Love your action photo! Marge is doing so well with her rally! I hate to work in a hot building so she did a really good job of ignoring that and focusing on you!
They always get you right after Spring Break. :)

Woo! I love that picture and the video blew me away! You two did great!!! I don't think I could concentrate that long.
Luv,
Dave
WOW you guys look fantastic!!!!! I really want to try rally and you guys make it look so good. Marge is getting so many talents! I love that picture you posted, very pretty!
Looking good! If only I has such good attention from Brutus!! I did notice one little thing that might be worth pointing out, hop eyou don't mind. Marge is so attentive to your hand, I bet she will be great at picking up other body cues too. Let your body do more talking & I bet you'll be able to drop the hand cues... Use your hips/shoulders to help cue Marge to turn. Also in your 1, 2, 3, steps; this is the only time I saw you step off with your right foot (instead of your left), and she was lagging a little. Unless you are doing that intentionally for some other reason, step off with your left foot, so Marge will realize sooner that you are moving (some people step off with the right of the dog forges, but she doesn't seem to be...).
Can't wait to see the new agility pics from the trial!!
Michelle & Brutus
Marge seems to really like to work! I love have enthusiastic she stays during the entire video. She never lost focus!
I always have a hard getting back into gear after a break. I hope you're not too swamped with work. Can't wait to read your posts about your other four legged friend.
I luvs that picture of Marge in her first trial! Gosh! She looks so happy! And whew! I know all abouts school work. My high school classes are kinda hard but I'm still having fun. Mom says she wishes she was a better tutor but I think she's doing just fine!
