A Pound of News
We had some very big news on Friday, when Layla got taken to the vet for a re-weigh.
She weighed in at 7.1 lbs, up significantly from her last weight, 6.15 lbs.
This likely means that the Prednisone is working (reducing inflammation in her bowels and allowing her to absorb nutrients). It also means that we hopefully don't have to think about endoscopy or biopsy right now.
The vet called the news "not good, but great." He wants to see her back in a month and hopes she'll gain more.
She'll get another B12 shot at that point as well. I administered two by myself in the past month.. it was scary, but I think I did a good job.
I nearly cried from relief and happiness when I saw her weight on the scale. She's not quite 100% - still the occasional throw-up, sometimes a little uncomfortable after eating, and the occasional wobble - but she's much more filled out than she was and quite active.
I'm committed to not taking her for granted. Unlike a dog, it's so easy to "forget" about a cat because they don't go on walks, or to training classes, etc. I want to ensure that her golden years are as good as they possibly can be.
Give your cat a hug in honor of our big news!

That's wonderful news!
I hope Layla continues to improve.
That is so great! I will be sure to hug all four of our little brats :) I'm so happy for you all, hope she continues to gain weight and improve!
Since I (Frankie Furter) don't HAVE a Cat... I'll just send a gentle Hug to Layla to celebrate her grrrrreat news!!!
Yah, that is great news!
Good job with the shots. I use to give my old dog, Harrison intravenous. It was scary, but it made him feel great!

SO glad to hear this wonderful news.
Awesome - bet that is the best pound of news you have had in a while. Way to go, Layla - now keep it up.

that is great news! If I had a cat, I'd give it a hug in Layla's honor. Stumpy will have to do.
Wonderful news, we don't have a cat, so give Layla a BIG hug for us!

Thats fantastic news!!!!
So glad to hear the news.
Great news! I'll hug Tsar because he's as close to a cat as we get.
I am sooooo happy for both of you, I am sure it the thing that made the biggest difference was your tender loving care, I know how worried you have been about her, so I am sooo glad for both of you!
That's great news! I think the other thing with cats is that they're so good at hiding their pain and discomfort, too. It makes it hard to know when they're not feeling well at times. I am really happy for you and Layla!
Great news! I'm so happy for you both. I don't want to hug Pat's cat, so give your Layla an extra hug from me.
Casey's still on Prednisone for his allergy issue (the cause of which is still undetermined) but the Prednisone makes a world of difference. It's funny how the same drug can have so many uses and effects - some patients at the pharmacy also take it to help with coughing. Crazy!
I am happy to know she is doing much better.
I know you can not forget about her!
Take care
Kisses and hugs
