Good Mojo Needed

Unless there is another skittish black Lab mix named Homer who was adopted out by my old rescue group, it appears that Marge's big brother is lost. :(

I feel just awful. The e-mail I got about it said that he slipped out of his collar Saturday night in a park. He was last seen heading out of the park. I e-mailed to ask if they'd like me to help look for him, but I haven't got a response.

He is a very nervous dog, probably more so than Marge is, even after all of this time. His owners are so nice, too. They have another one of Marge's litter mates, one of the bolder dogs of the bunch.

All I can think of is him running loose, scared out of his mind, not knowing where to go.

So, if you can, send some good thoughts that he is found, safe and sound.

My internet is screwed up once again, it took a half hour for me to make this post. So, it might be another week of fighting with Verizon to make my internet useable again.

I did call the vet regarding the ticks. They said not to worry about it. I also found out by e-mailing the Parks Department that the kind Marge had on her were likely Dog Ticks, not Deer Ticks (which carry Lyme). So that's a good thing. They told me that the worst of the tick season will be this month and June. So, maybe we'll be set to go back in July.

Oh no! I'm so sad about Marge's brudder. My paws are crossed real tight and I'm sending out lots of pawsitive thoughts that he'll get home soon - safe and sound.

I'm very much glad to hear that the ticks are Marge weren't anything to worry abouts. (Mom says they're still gross, though.)

Hopeful wiggles & Wags,
Mayzie

We hope Homer is found - so very stressful for everyone.
We lost Martha once and it was just awful - she wouldn't go to any human who approached her.
Bad enough Homer being missing but we know that will be an extra worry.
Let us know xxx

I'm so sorry to hear about Homer! I'll definitely send some good thoughts/vibes for him to be found quickly with as little stress for him as possible.

I'm glad that they most likely weren't deer ticks. That's what we mostly have down here. They're so annoying.

Yeah, the trial was Lisa's at Woodstown. I absolutely LOVED it. I'd go back in a second; I can't wait for them to have another trial down there.

She was okay with the hoops when I was right next to her, but she probably didn't even realize that they were an obstacle. Which explains why she didn't "get" them at a distance, she probably thought they were random garbage in the ring to avoid. Or maybe even thought that they were distractions for proofing, since Ann's been putting toys on the floor during weave class to make sure she stays focused.

I don't think they're having another trial at that site until November, but it's wonderful. There are a ton of nice open fields to walk the dogs in (some people were letting theirs run off leash, but we just went to our own), REAL bathrooms with flushing toilets, and even a little changing room in the back. I have 0 complaints about the site. They even had separate covered pavilions that, if you didn't mind being farther away from the ring you could park under one and have the whole thing to yourself with private crating for your dog. I'm going to make a point to try and go next time they have it there.

I am hoping and praying and sending all kinds of good vibes, mojo and whatever else I have that Homer is back with his loved ones safe and sound. Keep us posted!

Sorry about your internet, that really sucks!

Sorry to hear this! I can't imagine what they're going through right now. Sending positive thoughts for a speedy reunion.

Hey Marge! We are sending out our hopes and prayers that Homer finds his way home very soon. If not, I hope he has up to date tags on and such in case he is found by someone.

All good wishes,

Stella and Jo

Aw, poor Homer! I hope he finds his way home soon!

Oh goodness! I hope we hear good news from you soon! I have a soft spot in my heart for black dogs named Homer :) Our Homer sends good thoughts your way!

You can definitely tell the resemblance between him and Marge- they look so much alike- especially those gleaming coats!

And good to hear about the ticks- that was just gross (and scary!) to have ticks on Marge. Glad you got them all off of her!

Paws crossed for safe return. The story we most hate to hear.

Poor Homer!

Paws khrossed fur him -

It always makes us sad to read of things like this - just like poor Chapel in MD - 16 days later and she's still loose but staying in the same general vicinity -

Sorry 'bout the internets -

PS ~ THANK YOU so much for your congratulations! You can imagine how absolutely terrified I was. I'd rather show around people who don't know me than show around people who do. So I'll probably be more nervous at Bayshore, but at least now I know basically what to expect. Thank you again!!

Paws crossed for Homer!
I hope he is found soon!
Take care

Saying big paw-rayers for Mr Homer. I learned to climb our fence last week and Mama had to chase after me down to a street that she said was very busy. Since my doggie mommy went to the Rainbow Bridge because of a car on a busy street, Mama has been pretty freaked out.
So yes, we're paw-raying super hard for Mr Homer.
Isn't there something on Petfinder now to report lost puppies and kitties? Maybe that would help?

Prayers and positive thoughts for Marge's brother. My wee Gretchen was gone overnight about a year ago and I can honestly say it was the worst 19 hours of my life!

Fred May 18, 2010 at 10:44 AM

Bummer! Definitely sending good thoughts Homer's way! Hope he is safe at home soon!

Golden Samantha May 18, 2010 at 12:59 PM

So sorry we've not visited in so long - soooo sorry too, about Marge's brofer! We PRAY he gets found soon as pawsible - in fact, hope he's been located by now. Sending lots of golden vibes. Just read your last post as well - yuck - ticks! I'm on trails a lot and have to check Sammie ALWAYS - a lotta hair! But unlike last year, when they were everywhere, there seems to be less this year - maybe because of colder, rainier weather this spring. So glad that Marge is free of these disgusting infestation bugs. Thinking of Homer with hopes that he'll be safe and sound at home by now.
Big Hugs xoxoxo

Oh poor Homer. We hope he comes home or someone finds him soon.
Penny ran away the day we picked her up in the US. She stayed out all night & then let someone find her. Hope Homer does the same.

I hope they can find Homer! Poor pup! How scary, especially if you're a nervous dog.

I hope he's safe!!

Yikes! So sorry to hear that! Good vibes are headed his way. I hope they find him soon.

Have they found Homer yet? I hope they have and he is well.

My mum was one of those people who don't understand why they have to give dogs lots of treats when training the dogs. But, now she gives me lots of treats! :-)
