Technical Difficulties

Once again, my internet is on the fritz. Once again, Verizon insists on running the same unnecessary tests over and over again, all of which are coming back inconclusive.

This, of course, is making school work, blogging, and lots of other stuff extremely frustrating. So, if we're around less than usual over the next couple of weeks, don't worry and please forgive us.

A couple of things..
  • A few of you commented on my treat-giving during my Rally competition. The Rally we ran was APDT Rally (Association of Pet Dog Trainers). They allow handlers to reward their dogs at specific points on course. The courses in APDT are longer than AKC courses and many (including myself) argue that they are harder as well.
  • Agility class was last night. Unfortunately, once again, I have no pictures or videos, since I went alone. Marge's agility was fantastic, but her behavior left a little bit to be desired (just a little).
  • My next AKC trial is a week from this Saturday and Sunday. I'm currently in the process of buying a canopy/tent for it so we can hang out in the shade. (I got the trial schedule, and Marge's runs are nearly 6 hours apart! I think we'll be going home in between.)
  • Oh, and it looks like we're going to get some press. The local newspaper is, indeed, doing a story about mixed breeds in AKC competition, and I believe Marge and I are going to be a large part of it.
That's about it. Not much going on around here - just figured I'd update, since it's rare that I go this long without writing on here. Hopefully, just hopefully, this internet nonsense doesn't drag on forever like it did last time.

In the meantime, enjoy this photo of Marge noshing on a beef trachea last week.

Sorry about the nasty Internet 'performance'

I hope they can get it solved for you

Khyra says the trachea looks quite yummy!

Good luck at the next trial! I'm excited for you.

Do you have any ideas on which tent or canopy you'll be getting? It's so hard to make a decision since you want to make sure it'll last a long time. If it was just for the backyard, or for a barbecue or something I wouldn't really care but since it's for the dogs it makes the choices much tougher!

Good luck with the internet, that has to be so frustrating, especially when it starts interfering with schoolwork.

ARGH! Internet/computer problems are enough to push me right over the edge!

Stumpy wants a beef trachea! Is it cooked?

Technology is great when it works, frustrating as heck when it doesn't!

Kathy Mocharnuk April 29, 2010 at 12:01 AM

OOOH so sorry about the net....that sounds extremely frustrating. How fun more trials ;-).

Kathy Mocharnuk April 29, 2010 at 12:04 AM

I have a canopy I got from Costco and I LOVE it, and it makes the day much nicer, but it is so big and heavy and hard to get into my car with the dogs and gear, guess I am lazy...so I have been opting for a HUGE unbrella shade thing I also got at costco deisgned to sit on the ground and works nice with the crates, when I go to trials by myself it is much easier and works really nice. I also have a big beach umbrella I got from costco and a holder I got at a trial and that works nice for me.

Computer problems are such a headache. Hope you get them fixed soon.

Good luck with the internet problems - what a huge pain!

Thanks for the update! Looking forward to seeing the article about you guys in the paper (I'm hoping you'll post it)!

BRUTUS April 29, 2010 at 8:11 AM

Ugh. Internet troubles are the worst - how did we ever get by without it?? We have our AKC debut this weekend too, and luckily it's inside! Hope it goes better than our CPE trial last weekend (did you see the post - pretty hilarious stuff there). Let's hope Brutus got the zoomies out of his system...

Love that photo!!! Lucky Marge.

I bet that you're excited about your next agility trial. What fun for both you and Marge!

I hope that the internet thing gets resolved. I know from experience just how frustrating it can be!

Ahh...the joys of the Internet....

I didn't know that APDT rally allowed some treats. A definite plus in my opinion!

Marge looks like she really enjoyed scarfing down that trachea. I've never tried trachea with my dogs, there's an idea!

I hope the computer stuff gets fixed soon. That is irritating. That interview sounds exciting. I cant wait to see it. Diana

My dad saves all of the deer treacheas for me. Mom dries them out and OH MY... They are grrreat.

Sue April 29, 2010 at 12:13 PM

I wondered about the treats, too. Thanks for explaining.

I think it's great that you and Marge are getting some press. You deserve it and you're a great example of the new AKC system. be sure and let us know if it's online somewhere so we can read it.

Good luck in the next trial. You guys are really getting into this competition stuff. Are you feeling more comfortable with it?

Hate those nasty internet issues - yuck! Hope it clears up soon. And good, great luck in those trials - Marge is doing sooo well! Look forward to hearing more about the press biz - I know the new roolz have been in the nooze a lot lately and am so glad to hear that all doggies will be able to compete in performance classes. Such a good thing.

The Montana Arbor is one of the specific ones I was looking at. You'll probably get yours before I order mine, so please let me know how it is. It seems like the majority of reviews were good. Plus, I'm allergic to mosquito bites so the screen is an added bonus for me.

Also, congratulations on the press! Forgot to mention that in my last comment. That's awesome. Marge is a great dog to show people how good it is to rescue, plus how beneficial training and Canine Partner's events are. If they have an online edition of the newspaper and the article is online, I'd love to read it whenever it's published.

I'll echo everyone with the foowy to internet troubles. They never work out the first time, or third time around.

I'm excited about the partners story. You'll have to let us know when it comes out!

Something tells me she'd be happy to hold that pose indefinitely!

Sorry about your internet woes - I would have a meltdown!

Martha April 30, 2010 at 4:21 AM

We can completely empathise re the internet problems.
We are connected this morning .... so far.... without a problem but the last few days have been so stressful!
Good luck in your venture into the media - we always knew you two would become stars.
Loved the pic!

The internets can be so stupid sometimes. I'm glad you're back, though. We missed you!

And in answer to your question, YES! We started Rally-O on Tuesday and we had a very much great time. There are only two other doggies in the class so that makes it way more fun and easier to concentrate. But we founds out that around here, they really don't do any APDT trials - only AKC and UKC - which made me very much disappointed cuz of the whole treat thing. I like treats - a LOT!

Anyways, mom said she had more fun than she thought she would and I did, too. During the time we were taking some breaks, I kept coming over to mom and bopping her with my nose cuz I wanted to keep working!

So from me and mom - thanks for all your most very great advices!

Yummy treat, Marge!
