Cabin Fever

Posed my cat in an old basket...

...and then asked the dog to pose next to her.

What good sports. I love them both dearly.

It looks like we're going to have to come up with more creative ways to have fun, as we're supposed to get smashed with yet another winter storm. Today was the first day I got to take Marge on a walk of a decent length, and the first time in two weeks that she's been able to romp on her 20' leash. If the field is going to be snowy and swampy yet again, it may have been the last of its kind for a while.

It has been a tough winter for so many people. Let's hope this is the last "big snow event" of the season.

Dexter February 25, 2010 at 6:27 AM

Watch out Marge! Being snow bound means more intellectuals stimulations inside which can include strange tricks and whatnot.

your cat looks THRILLED!

Marge doesn't look too thrilled to have the cat eyeballing her! lol You could try some puzzle toys to break the monotony of being stuck inside, or hide some treats around the house and see if she can find them.

Sam February 25, 2010 at 8:11 AM

Yeah, Marge eats at least a few meals out of the week out of her Premier treat dispensing toys and we have a little training session every afternoon, but nothing's the same as a good ol' walk.

Marge is actually excited by Layla. She frequently throws her calming signals (paw tucked, head turned, ears toward the side of her head) and tries to engage her in play. She was probably a little confused about why Layla was in a basket and I was pointing the flashie beast at both of them!

BRUTUS February 25, 2010 at 9:20 AM

Yep, it's headed here too. Just when we were tempted by a little thaw, leave it to mother nature to throw another snowstorm at us! I remember winters like this when I was in grade school in the late 70s (ugh, I'm showing my age), where it took a REAL blizzard to call a snow day (not just the threat of ice rain, like seems to be the pattern now). I've gotta get creative & come up with some new stuff for our blog, or you'll be seeing Brutus in a basket too!!

We hope the storm passes you by. We are so sick of winter & snow.

Pees - I think your kitty likes the basket.

I think there is a song about that. Catch a furry cat and put it in a basket... never let it get away!!!

Scout and Freyja February 25, 2010 at 9:47 AM

Sometimes when things get boring around here in the winter we will play hide and seek or hide the cookie! We like both of those games a LOT! Try them, you just might like them!

Kari in Alaska February 25, 2010 at 10:37 AM

oh my. what tolerant animals you have :)

AC February 25, 2010 at 11:24 AM

Nothing like cabin fever with an active pup, but if your post stands true, it looks like you'll find some creative ways to get through it =) Your kitty is adorable and quite the sport to hang out in the basket!

Hi Miss Samantha! I would be verrrry careful if I were you. Your kitteh looks like she might be plotting evil things whiles your asleep tonite! Tell Marge I try to play with my kittehs, too. But they're much too precious (that's what they say) to play with me. I hopes you all stay warm!

Your cat is so pretty! And she lets you pose her? How generous of her. My cats would accept no such thing, lol.

Cinnamon and Mint February 25, 2010 at 9:59 PM

I have never lived with a cat. What is it like to live with a cat, let alone posing with a cat?

Love,

We are so glad Marge that you have a kitty cat friend to stop you from becoming bored!
That was a cute picture of the two of you.
Instead of a cat in the hat we have a cat in a basket! Very cute.
Our weather is also dreadful and we have had blizzards. Yesterday we didn't go out which is really very unusual!
Today we have gone out and found our nice labrador friend Alfie - we have had a run in the field with him but the blizzard conditions are making a decent walk almost impossible!!!
Can you share your kitty?

It has snowed every weekend for ages here. Getting a tad over it. But, we had snow through May last year, so I guess we'd better settle in.

You girls stay warm!
